Utopia Foundation understands your concerns about safety and security and want to 

assure you that we make every effort to safeguard your privacy when you make donations 

through our giving system.

This policy describes the types of information Utopia Foundation may collect from you or 

that you may provide when you visit the website or mobile site at www.utopiafound.org 

(including sub-domains, web pages within this site or any equivalent mirror, replacement, 

substitute or backup website ) or any website, mobile site or application that links to this 

privacy policy, accessed via any device. If you have any questions about this statement,

Utopia Foundation uses industry-leading Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to keep 

your personal information as secure as possible and protect against the loss, misuse and 

alteration of the information under our control. Utopia Foundation helps to protect your 

information by working with partners that provide a secure and safe environment for 

credit card donations. All information is stored in a secure database.

 

Like most website administrators we use log files that record information such as Internet 

protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, 

platform type, date/time stamp, and page navigation. We gather this information to track 

website visitor movement in the aggregate, and to gather broad demographic information 

for aggregate use. Our goal in gathering this information is to learn how our customers and 

the public are using our service. IP addresses that are recorded by our log files are not 

linked to personally identifiable information.

Utopia Foundation uses "session cookies" while a visitor is making a donation using 

a DonateNow button. "Cookies" are bits of information that are stored by your browser on 

your hard drive. We use "session cookies" so that we can properly verify a donor's identity 

as they move from one donation page to the next. For our nonprofit customers, we use 

"session cookies" and "persistent cookies" in addition to verifying personal information, so 

that we can provide secure access to donor information. These session cookies are not 

linked to personally identifiable information.

As you navigate through and interact with our website, we may also automatically collect 

certain information about your equipment, browsing actions and patterns, including details 

of your visits to our website, including traffic data, location data, logs and other 

communication data and the resources that you access and use on the website; information 

about your computer and internet connection, including your IP address, operating system 

and browser type; and other information obtained through third party analytics tools, such 

as Google Analytics. Google has created a tool to opt out of Google Analytics. 

This website contains links to other sites. Please be aware that Utopia Foundation is not 

responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be

Other Privacy Information for Donors

Utopia Foundation strives to protect the financial information of donors. We will provide a 

secure environment for collecting donations and maintain internal controls ensuring the 

safekeeping of all confidential donor financial and personal information. Upon request, we 

will provide information on how your information is collected and used. You may “opt-out” 

of making your private information available or shared or ask to be removed from any 

Utopia Foundation solicitation or mailing list. Please be aware that although Utopia 

Foundation makes every effort to preserve donor and customer privacy, we may need to 

disclose personal information when we have a good-faith belief that such action is 

necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or other legal or 

administrative process.

Truth and Accuracy Statement; Refund Policy

The Organization strives to employ fundraising methods that are ethical and honest and 

encourage donors to give voluntarily, based on their interest and knowledge of the 

purpose, programs and achievements of a nonprofit. All solicitation and fundraising 

materials and other communications to donors and the public will be accurate and truthful 

and will not be misleading. Unless the donor specifically restricts a donation with a 

message to Utopia Foundation, donations given through the website are considered 

unrestricted donations that Utopia Foundation may use for any purpose that it determines 

in its discretion to further its tax-exempt 501(c)(3) mission in its discretion. Utopia 

Foundation reserves the right to refuse any restricted gift if it determines accepting the gift 

would be inconsistent with its gift acceptance policies. If a donor specifically restricts the 

purposes of a gift and believes it is not used for the purposes for which it was solicited, 

please contact Utopia Foundation immediately. If we cannot address your concerns, your 

restricted gift donation will be refunded.
