Mwereni Playground Fund

Mission: To raise $10,000 to give to the Mwereni Integrated School for the Blind for playground equipment.

After a recent trip to Kilimanjaro, Alan and Aaron Kostrzewa were inspired by the children at Mwereni Integrated School for the Blind. After a visit to the school they were stunned to see the lack of outdoor playground equipment.

Throughout the world, children are being raised to be the leaders in the coming generation. So much of their ability to grow is based on the resources they have available to them in the present. The children at the Mwereni School have the joy and capabilities to succeed. They attend a private school barely supported by the government. The school welcomes 80 blind or albino children that would otherwise be outcasts in society. These kids are able to overcome the disadvantages they face at a young age and are given the resources to succeed that they would have never had otherwise. The other 600 students in attendance are provided with an excellent education. Many of the kids are able to move on to receive a college degree, and then become a professionals in the community.

The people of Tanzania have incredibly positive attitudes despite what little they have. The youth are no exception either. The children at the Mwereni School are kind to everyone. They exemplify joy and gratefulness in all their interactions. However, the kids have few resources to have fun outside of class. The goal of the Mwereni Playground Fund is to provide children with access to facilities and equipment to supplement their learning. A few goals of the Fund are to construct a soccer field, purchase goal posts, install playground equipment, and provide various sports equipment. Join in supporting the Mwereni Playground Fund to provide the kids with the resources to succeed!
