2008 Leadership & Sustainability Student Multimedia Contest of the Corporate Leadership and Sustainability Summit
Theme
We seek projects that will help build the next generation of global leaders by engaging young people in a dialogue on the themes of sustainability, leadership, and global awareness. The topic of the 2008 Leadership & Sustainability Student Multimedia Contest is "What does sustainability mean to you?"
ACCEPTABLE FORMS OF MEDIA
Projects may be in any and all forms of media, including, but not limited to:
- Video
- Slideshow/Photo Journal
- Essay
- Artwork
- Song
- Poetry
- Poster
- Podcast
GUIDELINES
- Entrants must be enrolled in a Michigan middle school, high school, or undergraduate college or university.
- Entries must be received by 5:00pm on Friday, October 10, 2008
- To be accepted, written submissions may be no longer than three double-spaced typescript pages at 12-point font size. Multimedia submissions must take no longer than four minutes to view.
- Group entries are permitted.
- All entries must feature the entrant's name, school, and title of work on the title image of the work or as a caption to artwork.
- There is no limit on the number of entries each contestant may submit.
- All entries must be entirely original work by the entrant and not copied or remixed from any third party.
- Entries that also fulfill an academic requirement or assignment are eligible.
- Entries must not be inappropriate, indecent or obscene, as determined by the Utopia Foundation in its sole discretion.
- Entries must not infringe any other person's or entity's rights, including, without limitation, contractual rights, rights of publicity and privacy, trademark, copyright, and patent rights.
- All contestants agree that Utopia Foundation may publish their name(s) and personal attributions including but not limited to age, school, and hometown, and may use this information and the submitted work in future advertising campaigns and/or marketing materials. Contestants relinquish all publishing rights.
- No entries will be returned.
HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST
There are two methods of entering the Contest:
- Online Entry: Submit the completed registration form via the website. Then email your entry as an attachment to contest@utopiafound.org. The entry must be either in the form of a Word, WordPerfect, or other standard word processing attachment, Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF), or a multi-media (video or audio) presentation in the form of a mp3 file, mpeg file, Macromedia Shockwave or Flash file, Microsoft PowerPoint, or a link to a multi-media hosting site.
- Mail–in or Hand-Delivered Entry: Call (231) 929-4500 or visit www.utopiafound.org to obtain a registration form. Fully complete the registration form and mail or hand-deliver it, along with your Submission to:

If delivering via this method, multimedia presentations must be delivered as a broadcast quality master on a data DVD or a video DVD as an .avi, .mov or wmv file. Printed copies of typescript content are also accepted via mail or hand delivery. All artwork, including photographs, should be easel-ready and matted.
Awards
The winning team or individual is invited to a private dinner with a CLASS speaker on the evening October 22 or 23. Utopia Foundation will publish the winning entry on its website and send a press release to all media informing them of the winning entry and inviting them to the website to view it. The winning team or individual will each be given a registration to the Corporate Leadership & Sustainability Summit held October 23 and 24, 2008, at which a formal award presentation will occur and the winning entry will be presented to summit attendees. The winning entry, if it is a film or similar form of media, will also be shown at the State Theatre in Traverse City at a movie night sponsored by Northwestern Michigan College.
All entries will be displayed in an exhibit hall during the 2008 Corporate Leadership & Sustainability Summit.
