Ashesi University is an African-initiated private, secular, nonprofit institution in Accra, Ghana. Its mission is to educate a new generation of ethical, entrepreneurial leaders in Africa and to cultivate within its students the critical thinking skills, the concern for others and the courage it will take to transform their continent. Ashesi University believes that a new Africa will require homegrown, ethical leadership and innovative thinking. 

Ashesi graduates work for efficiency, transparency and innovation in technology, banking, microfinance, NGOs and other areas. Its 269 graduates have a 100% placement rate in a job or advanced degree program within 6 months of graduation, and an astonishing 95% have chosen to stay in Africa. Currently, its 450 students are from 11 African nations and have diverse economic, ethnic and religious backgrounds. One-half of Ashesi students are women and one-third of students receive financial aid.
